Make sure you know exactly what to expect!
The Important T&Cs kind of Stuff:
Can I just arrive / walk in?
No. Booking is essential and walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
Trips are planned and prepared in advance based on the number of people confirmed. This includes equipment preparation, guide allocation, safety requirements, and overall trip logistics.
Booking is essential and requires 24-hour notice. Bookings are only confirmed on receipt of a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your spots as trips have limited capacities.
What is the weight limit?
The weight limit is approximately 100kg. This is due to:
- Safety equipment fitting correctly
- Operational safety
- Physical requirements of the activity
Participants must be reasonably fit and able to:
- Help carry the boat (approx. 28kg between two people)
- Walk roughly 150m over uneven terrain
- Sit and paddle for the duration of the trip
If you are tall/muscular or slightly over the limit, please chat to us.

Children 8–12 years may participate when paired with an adult in a two-man raft.
Children under 8 years cannot participate for safety reasons.
Participants 13 years and older are welcome.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Being able to swim is not a requirement. However, you should not have a strong fear of water.
Everyone wears life jackets, which means you will float if you fall out of the raft.
The trip is fully guided and guides assist anyone who comes out of their boat.
What is the maximum group size?
The maximum trip size is 24 people due to safety standards and ensuring the best experience.
Our ideal group size is around 12 people.
What if our group is larger than 24 people?
Groups larger than 24 must be split into smaller groups.
We recommend rotating groups through additional activities such as:
- Hiking
- Team building games
- Abseiling
- Other adventure activities
This allows everyone to experience all activities.
What happens if it rains?
In the case of light rain, your trip will continue – you get wet on the river in any case!
The lead guide makes the call on the safety of the trip due to high water levels. If too dangerous to do the trip, your trip will be postponed to a later date.
You will be notified on the morning/night before of potential postponement but this call can be made up until we’re about to start the trip and even once on the river.
In the case of thunder/lightning, the trip is delayed by 20-30 mins until the thunder passes as is typical in Highveld Thunderstorms.
What is your cancellation / no-show policy?
Trips are planned and prepared in advance based on the number of people confirmed. This includes equipment preparation, guide allocation, safety requirements, and trip logistics.
Cancellations within 24 hours of your trip time constitute a 100% cancellation fee.
Rescheduling your trip requires written approval, at least 24 hours before your booked trip and must be rebooked within 6 months of the original booking date.
A decrease in the number of people in your group must be done at least 24 hours before your booked trip time. A decrease within 24 hours of your booking time is considered a no-show.
An increase in the number of people can only be done if there is availability on the trip and logistics – please chat to us.
No-shows on the day (individuals in your group or the group as a whole) forfeit 100% of the booking.
Arriving 20 minutes or more late is considered a no-show.
Latecomers will be left behind to keep to trip schedules, with no refund or reschedule.
Can I reschedule my booking?
Rescheduling requires written approval, at least 24 hours before your booked trip and must be rebooked within 6 months of the original booking date.
What happens if river levels are too high?
The lead guide makes the call on the safety of the trip due to high water levels. If too dangerous to do the trip, your trip will be postponed to a later date.
You will be notified on the morning/night before of potential postponement but this call can be made up until we’re about to start the trip and even once on the river.
In the case of light rain, your trip will continue (you get wet on the river in any case). In the case of thunder/lightning, the trip is delayed by 20-30 mins until the thunder passes as is typical in Highveld Thunderstorms.
Is alcohol allowed before or during the trip?
Drinking alcohol before or on the trip, or being under the influence of any substances, is strictly prohibited.
The guide can and will make the call to remove any persons off the trip for the safety and experience of the rest of the group.
Please respect the dangers of mixing alcohol or drugs with water. River rafting is an adventure activity with inherent risks. Being under the influence significantly increases those risks for both yourself and others.
No refunds will be allowed to those removed from the trip.

I’ve booked! How to prepare:
What should we wear?
You will get wet on the river.
- Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting wet. Active / gym wear is best. Or, swimwear under your normal t-shirt & shorts. Avoid designer clothes that may get damaged or muddy on the river, and jeans that may become heavy and uncomfortable once wet.
- YOU MUST WEAR CLOSED SHOES! Takkies, runners, sneakers. Strops, booties, aqua-shoes or Crocs with heel strap are fine too. No flip flops or sliders. No barefeet. Let’s protect your toes.
- Hat to wear underneath your helmet for comfort and extra sun protection. Baseball caps/peak hats are best.
- Sunblock! High SPF and water-resistant. Lather up!
Glasses, spectacles and sunglasses are worn at your own discretion. If you come out of the boat into the water, you could lose them to the river.
For after the river rafting, bring:
- Dry change of clothes
- Dry shoes
- Towel
- Plastic bag for wet clothes
- Soaps / shampoos you may need for our cold water bushcamp showers.
